The Art of Pink for Breast Cancer AwarenessOctober 01, 2016
This year, the Art of Pink presents “Nao Nao” (挠挠) , an exclusively commissioned interactive installation by Chen Man, China’s most celebrated avant-garde photographer and multimedia artist. The exciting and intimate, “Travel Meditation”, Chen Man’s inspiring art piece displayed in The Lobby is covered by two pink spheres – symbols of breasts and a colon, which is the punctuation preceding a conversation, as many cancer patients believe that open communication can help in detecting and treating the illness at an early stage. As part of a collaboration with the GUESS brand, this iconic photograph challenges us to use our meditative powers to understand the world and respect the true value of life.
Guests can purchase a traditional nao nao bamboo stick to gently remove the pink dots to unveil the complete image and create their own dialogue about breast cancer awareness. Chen Man’s pink masterpiece will be auctioned on Paddle8 online. our auction partner. The proceeds will be donated to Queen Sirikit Centre for Breast Cancer to support underprivileged breast cancer patients.
For the whole month of October, the hotel façade, main entrances and guardian door lions will be illuminated in pink. Curated Art of Pink experiences are also offered all month long, including a special Peninsula in Pink Afternoon Tea with an addition of a handcrafted chocolate artwork inspired by Chen Man’s art piece, created by Executive Pastry Chef Nicolas Pelloie. The hotel will work together with 35 Bangkok’s most acclaimed restaurants and bars to present Eat Drink Pink on Monday 31 October 2016 at The Peninsula Lawn .
